Mindset has a long-standing collaborative relationship with leading clinical and basic research scientists at New York University School of Medicine who are conducting reserach on Alzheimer’s disease. These collaborative efforts include the design and execution of clinical trials on Alzheimer’s disease, studies on the mechanisms of amyloid induced toxicity, and the identification of new immunotherapeutic approaches to amyloid related diseases.
Professor Mike Cawthorne, an internationally recognized expert in diabetes, is directing a research group at the University of Buckingham working with Mindset scientists to identify new targets based on selected key metabolic activities in brain and their alterations in Alzheimer’s disease. This research is aimed at the discovery of novel therapeutic compounds for Alzheimer’s disease and other disorders characterized by cognitive impairment.
Mindset’s scientists recognized the pioneering discoveries made by the University of South Alabama’s neuroscientists regarding the critical importance of oxidative damage in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s Disease. Mindset’s collaborations with University of South Alabama researchers involves the screening and evaluation of a new class of dual-action molecules for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
