Dr. Chain is participating in the conference as a member of a panel entitled: "Alzheimer's Disease - Where are the Drugs"? Dr. Paul Bendheim, Mindset's Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer will serve as co-moderator with Professor Ephraim Katzir of the Weizmann Institute of Science at the Prion Conference Sponsored by the Adams Super Center for Brain Studies, Tel Aviv University and The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov), Tel Aviv. The conference will be held at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv on Wednesday, July 17th, 2002. Prion diseases of humans and animals share certain features with Alzheimer's disease, most notably the accumulation of an amyloid protein in the brain and significant oxidative damage. Previously, Dr. Bendheim and his research colleagues made important contributions to our current understanding of the unique pathogenetic mechanisms of prion diseases.
