Mindset is pleased to announce the allowance of U.S. claims for it's vaccine patent

The vaccine was invented by scientists at New York University School of Medicine, and is exclusively licensed to Mindset for development.  In relevant animal models of Alzheimer’s disease, the Mindset vaccine was shown to inhibit the deposition of toxic amyloid fibrils and to improve cognition. Importantly, Mindset’s technology potentially addresses several major safety concerns for developing a vaccine to beta-amyloid.  See accompanying Press Release.

Mindset is pleased to announce that Shalom Allenstein,  B.Sc (Econ), ACA, CPA, has joined the company as Chief Financial Officer.  Mr. Allenstein has more than 15 years experience in finance management and has held senior management positions with several successful companies.  Most recently, Mr. Allenstein was the CFO at Proficiency Ltd, a Jerusalem-based company with 95 employees. Previously, Mr. Allenstein was one of the original employees at Cellcom, the leading Israeli cellular telephone company, where he was the Financial Comptroller responsible for the internal control and financial reporting as the company grew from a startup to over $1 billion in turnover in 5 years. Mr. Allenstein is experienced in US and Israeli corporate accounting. He obtained his degree in economics, specializing in computing from the London School of Economics in 1980.

Mindset and New York University Collaborate on Novel Vaccine Technology for Alzheimer’s Disease

Mindset BioPharmaceuticals (USA) Inc. and New York University School of Medicine (NYUSM) announced today that they have signed an agreement through which Mindset becomes the worldwide exclusive licensee of a breakthrough vaccine technology for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. The first promising results obtained from transgenic animal studies at NYUSM were published last year by the prestigious American Journal of Pathology.  Scientists at Mindset, led by Dr. Cheryl Fitzer Attas, have discovered that the vaccine is also less likely to cause an autoimmune response in patients. Many opinion leaders attribute a so-called T-cell mediated autoimmune response to the incidence of brain inflammation in a recent Alzheimer’s vaccine trial.

Dr. Paul Bendheim, Mindset's Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer will serve as co-moderator with Professor Ephraim Katzir of the Weizmann Institute of Science at the Prion Conference Sponsored by the Adams Super Center for Brain Studies, Tel Aviv University and The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov), Tel Aviv. The conference will be held at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv on Wednesday, July 17th, 2002.
 
Prion diseases of humans and animals share certain features with Alzheimer's disease, most notably the accumulation of an amyloid protein in the brain and significant oxidative damage. Previously, Dr. Bendheim and his research colleagues made important contributions to our current understanding of the unique pathogenetic mechanisms of prion diseases.

U.S. Patent Reinforces Mindset’s Leadership in Alzheimer’s Disease Drug Discovery

Mindset BioPharmaceuticals (USA) Inc., announced today that New York University School of Medicine and the University of South Alabama have been issued a U.S. patent relating to OXIGON®, the Company's industry-leading product for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. The patent, issued May 28, 2002 as US 6,395,768, covers the use of indole-3-propionic acid compounds to inhibit the deposition of toxic amyloid fibrils that lead to Alzheimer’s disease as well as prevent damage from oxidative stress. Mindset is the worldwide exclusive licensee of this platform patent.

MPM Capital L.P., one of the largest asset management firms dedicated to the life sciences sector, and Clal Biotechnology Industries Ltd., Israel’s leading investor in life sciences, have signed final agreements to invest in Mindset BioPharmaceuticals Inc.MPM and CBI have acted as co-lead investors in this round of financing and shall invest $15 million, in two tranches, in the Jerusalem-based (Delaware registered) company.

Mindset Biopharmaceuticals (USA) Inc. signs a service agreement with Lundbeck for testing Lundbeck's drug candidate in Mindset's double transgenic mouse model of Alzheimer's disease and cognitive impairment.
